Item of the Week: All Purpose Healing Salve

I've been wild-crafting and making my own healing salves for the past 7 years and salves are a must have item for any medicine cabinet. I started out making salves for cuticles and minor cuts. I noticed that the salves I made heal cuts so much faster than Neosporin and has soothing properties you don't necessarily get with Neosporin either. This natural healing salve is an all purpose healing salve meant to help heal minor cuts, scrapes, bug bites, burns, and bee stings. This salve is made with wild-crafted plantain, clover flower, and dog fennel. Plantain is used as a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory as well as clover flower. This is made with White Clover flower instead of Red Clover flower. The anti-inflammatory properties still exist with either. However, after the research and personal testing, the Red Clover flower seems to be more effective than the white. I do have some wild-crafted Red Clover flower along with some other different herbs infusing at the moment. I will make a stronger salve geared towards relieving inflammation as my husband suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis. His knees and hands are constantly in pain, and one thing that helps is for him to stay active. Dog fennel is used to help relieve pain and itching of bug bites and stings. Dog fennel smells similar to cilantro or parsley when you cut it. You could actually just take the juice from the plant and rub it on your bug bites to help heal them. Other plants used in this salve include Salvia May Night which is used for its natural astringent and disinfectant properties. Lavender is used to help calm and soothe skin while White Willow Bark is used to help relieve pain.

I know you'll love this salve as much as myself and my family does. Find it here in my Etsy store.

Come back for my next post about honey.

Cheers!
Kristine
