Working With Basil

Sweet Basil Plant
Photo taken by: Kristine with Earth N Moon
I am absolutely obsessed with Basil at the moment, fresh Basil. I also like Basil essential oil, but I must warn you, it is an acquired taste. On its own, Basil essential oil is used a lot in aromatherapy to help ease tension and calm the mind. It has an earthy, spicy, and slightly sweet smoky smell. It goes well with other essential oils in soap. Lemon and Basil is a wonderful combination as is Lavender and Basil.

Fresh Basil is divine though in my opinion. I have two spots of Sweet Basil plants around the house and they are very fragrant. It smells slightly citrus with a hint of sweet floral, a little bit of spice, and a whole lot of fresh. It makes me feel that it is more of a masculine scent. It is a very comforting herb for me. Just the smell makes me feel at ease like when you snuggle down under warm blankets next to a low fire, or when you've had a long day and you ache all over until you lay down on your nice comfy bed and it's instant relief. Yeah, it's instant relief for my soul.

You can find all sorts of information on Basil and its properties through hundreds of online websites.

I use Basil in my All Purpose Healing Salve to help relieve itching from bug bites. It is also used as an antiseptic/anti fungal in certain skin care products which makes it an excellent addition to the healing salve I make.

It also helps relieve dry skin when used in skin care products which is one reason I use it my lotions.

So, check out Sweet Basil. Some people like it some people don't but I LOVE it! :)

Featured Item of the Week: Glow

This all-natural new item I have available outside of the Etsy shop is a temporary bronzer. There are absolutely no preservatives used in this product. I know what you're thinking "isn't all bronzer technically temporary?" Not for just a day. This bronzer doesn't dye your skin orange or cause streaking. So, you can feel safe knowing you won't look like a cheese puff since this bronzer is made with micas and natural oils.

This bronzer absorbs super fast. So, no more rubbing and rubbing and then rubbing some more to get it to set it. Although I wouldn't advise to get this on clothing, it won't dye your clothes. If you should accidentally get this on your clothes, simply wash them as normal and it should come right out.

Unlike most bronzers, this is just a subtle hint of color for fair to medium skin tones. So, if you're looking for something that will instantly tan you, this is not the product you're looking for. This is more of a subtle bronze shimmer that doesn't transfer once dry and lasts longer than most body shimmers since it sets up super fast.

What exactly is it made of? Here's a list of the ingredients I use to make Glow:

Aloe Vera, Fractionated Coconut Oil, Vegetable Glycerin,
Sesame Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Argan Oil, Mica Powder (Mica, Iron Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Carmine)

Want to know how you can get your hands on a sample of one of these? You can get a sample with a purchase from my Etsy shop. No minimum purchase required.

Hope to see you in the shop!

Cheers!
